My Other Love – Cooking
Okay so I didn’t know what to do with this other page but I wanted to use it. I thought maybe I would start putting up some of the latest recipes I have tried and liked.
Juleasha Chicken Chilli Pizza
1 quantity store bought dough
3 or 4 green onions sliced thin
1 clove shaved garlic
handful of sesame seeds
pre-cooked chicken strips
1 cup mozza shredded
1/4 cup each of provolone and Swiss – OPTIONAL!
Shredded carrot
Bean sprouts
1/2 cup Thai sweet chilli sauce
1/2 cup chilli garlic sauce
A bit of olive oil and pinch of salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Roll out the dough onto a Silpat on a cookie sheet
Brush a wee bit of olive oil all over dough, especially the edges and sprinkle with salt.
Cover the dough in the mixture of sweet chilli and chilli garlic.
Sautee the chicken strips in a bit of olive oil and some more of the garlic chilli sauce, just until warm and full of flavoury goodness.
Sprinkle cheese, chicken, green onions, sesame seeds, shredded carrot and garlic on top of dough.
Cook in 450 degree over until browning at the edges and melty – about 20 minutes (depends on your oven).
Once out of the oven, sprinkly some bean sprouts on top.
YUM!
Yummy Granola Bars for Young and Old
OKay Amelia is addicted to these and so am I. I started giving them to her as part of her morning snack and now we both have them. The recipe orginally came from Bonnie Stren’s new book Heart Smart which I love, I have made a few changes from the original recipe. I took out the dried cranberries from the orginal recipe and doubled the coconut cause I don’t like dried cranberries that much but if you do maybe you want to switch it back.
Amelia’s Snackie Peanut Butter Granola Bars
1/4 toasted sesame seed
2cups rice crispys
2cups large flake rolled oats, toasted
1/2cup shredded coconut
1/4cup sunflower seeds
1/2cup sliced almonds, toasted
1/4cup honey
1/4cup maple syrup
1/2cup to 3/4cup peanut butter (for crunchy go for the 1/2 cup but I found that hard for Amelia to eat so I make them softer)
1/3cup veg oil
1/2cup brown sugar
toast sesame seed and almond seperatly in frying pan. Spread oats out on a cookie sheet and bake for 10min at 350oC. Combine all dry ingedients in one bowl. In sauce pan combine wet ingredients and melt over low heat. Mix wet and dry well and pat out into a 13×9 inch plastic wrap lined baking dish. Put in fridge for at least 2hrs or overnight then cut into bars. YUMMY!!!
Pad Thai
OKay this is another one of Julie’s finds, I think it is a great Pad Thai recipe. I’m making it tonight…

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Okay so as per Jen’s request, here is my current easy week night dinner that Julie has me totally addicted to. This recipe orginally comes from Epicuious but we have changed it so much I figured it would post my version. If you can’t be bothered making the sauce (you should try it once cause it is really good) you can just use tatziki.
Curried Turkey Burgers
Burgers
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon plain nonfat yogurt
- 5 tablespoons mango chutney, mashed if chunky
- 2 teaspoons curry powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 pound extra-lean ground turkey breast meat
- 4 tablespoons chopped green onion tops
- 4 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
Sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped tart green apple
- 3/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 3 tablespoons chopped green onion tops
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
Flour tortillas
Chopped lettuce
Shake mustard seeds in medium skillet over low heat until seeds begin to pop, about 2 minutes. Transfer seeds to bowl. Mix in yogurt, chutney, curry powder, salt and cayenne. Mix in turkey, onion tops and mint. Shape into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
Mix all sauce ingredients in small bowl. Let sit while you grill or pan fry burgers (med heat, ~5min/side). Place cooked buger on tortilla with a dollop of sauce and some lettuce.
Easter Beast

We also did sandwiches from chicken and marinated flank steak. I have been looking for a good teriyaki marinade for while and I combined a few and I think it was pretty good…
Teriyaki Marinade
- 1/4 cup Soya Sauce
- 1/4 cup Sherry
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp veg oil
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
Mix and pour over meat. Refrigerate for 24hrs turning once then bbq.
