Amelia’s Arrival
Enormous Baby Recovered From Woods
Pack of wolves unable to cope with sleep deprivation, natural father inconsolable
Ok, well, maybe not.
But, Alicia and I have officially now become a full-on family with the overdue arrival of our wee bundle of joy Amelia Helen Reitsma. Amelia came shooting out of Alicia at 8:45pm on Wednesday, April 20th 2005 and tipped the scales at a robust 9lb 10oz (just over 4 kg). The whole beauty of labour was a bit lost on us all, thanks in no small part to the 4 hours of pushing followed by a moderately risky c-section. But all is well and everyone is doing great. We would like to thank all the good folks at Credit Valley Hospital – in particular the nursing staff at Labour & Delivery and Post-Partum (3C), Dr.'s Griffin, Doyle and Zoidberg (I know that's wrong but still, great name… Zoidberg… hahaha!).
Anyways, after 3 days and nights in the post-partum ward, we all came home on Saturday afternoon. Our folks have been super and so far we have not had to cook any meals from scratch nor really clean too much. Dude. So nice.
All in all, so far so good. We're still struggling a bit with milk supply issues and the joy of having a fussy baby from 12am to 6am. Egads. Suffice to say that Daddy's hearing & hair loss has been accelerated ever so slightly. Here are a bunch of pictures that we apologize are not in any order. We're not so "good" with "technology"… more to come soon.

Still Pregnant
Well my due date has come and gone with still no sign of peanut. We have decide that she might be taking after me already and she is going to be rather stubborn. Last week when I went in for my doctors appointment I found out I was already 2cm dilated and my doctor even thought I would probably be in labour in the next day or so but alas no. I have my next appointment tomorrow to find out how I have progressed and to start talking induction.
